1. QUALITY MANAGEMENT &CONTROL
The manufacture of the entire x-Glo product range is subject to very strict Quality Management and Quality Control standards in accordance with the international ISO 9001:2008 standard and is authorised to carry the UKAS Accreditation Mark, as verified by the NQA verification authority.
2. FIRE RETARDANT & TOXICITYTESTING
All x-Glo PVC strip lighting is subject to flame retardancy testing to ensure thatthe light strip is fire retardant and self-extinguishing. The flame retardancy test is conducted in accordance with the EN 60598-1:2008+A1:2009 standard, Clause 13.3.1 Needle Flame Test and Clause 13.3.2 Glow-wire Test, as verified by the TUV Test Authority. However, the end user should note that the lightstrip extruded cover is a PVC compound that will emit small amounts of toxin sper installed meter (e.g. CO, SO₂, NO) when subjected to fire.
All x-Glo silicone strip lighting is subject to flame retardancy and toxicity testing by the Firelab Test House to ensure that the light strip does not propagate flames and that the strip light is non-toxic. The flame retardancy test is conducted in accordance with the SANS 10177 standard, and the toxicity test is conducted in accordance with the DEFTSAN (NES713) standard.
The resultant toxicity index of 0.479 is very low. A mine usually requires a toxicity index of less than 5.0, and the emission of any one gas, excludingCO/CO₂, must not be greater than 1.0.
Regarding the fire properties, the test result indicates that the 110mm flame propagation area was limited to where the Bunsen burner applied the flame, and the flame did not propagate along the length of the 1.5m sample. Furthermore, the heat contribution indicates a very low heat contribution of approximately 0.3°C/min. A mine normally requires a heat contribution below 3°C/min.
3. WATER INGRESS PROTECTIONTESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting and its accessories are subject to water ingress protection testing in a pressure chamber to determine their IP rating inaccordance with the IEC 60529:1989 + A1:1999 + A1:2013 standard, as follows:
● The x-Glo strip lighting withthe snap-type front connector is rated IPX8 when installed as directed, i.e. it is suitable for immersion in water to a depth of two meters.
● The x-Glo strip lighting withthe moulded-type front connector or end cap is rated IPX5 when installed asdirected, i.e. it is watertight against water jets from any direction.
4. CORROSION IMMERSION TESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting accessories are subject to in-house prolonged corrosionimmersion testing to verify the product durability when exposed to weak hydrochloric acid (swimming pool water) and weak alkali (salt water).
The LED light strip and accessories “Salt Water Spray Test” are conducted in accordance with Reference Standards IEC 68-2-11 and GB/T 6461-2002.
The clasp connector accessories “Salt Water Spray Test” is conducted in accordance with Reference Standard GB/T 6461-2002.
5. UV LIGHT STRIP TESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting is subject to UV light testing with Xenon lamps to the ISO4892-2:2009 standard, as verified by the AOV Test Authority.
6. RESTRICTION OF HAZARDOUSSUBSTANCES (RoHS) LIGHT STRIP TESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting is subject to RoHS testing for Cadmium, Lead, Mercury, Hexavalent Chromium, and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) to verifycompliance with RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, recasting 2002/95/EC, as verified by the SGS Test Authority.
7. PHOTOBIOLOGICAL TESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting is subject to photobiological testing to the IEC EN62471:2008 standard, as verified by the EMTEK Test Authority. The x-Glo LEDlight strip product is certified exempt, i.e. the actinic UV light or near UV light emitted does not cause human eye retinal or skin irritation under testconditions.
8. ELECTROMAGNETIC EMISSIONSTESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting is subject to electromagnetic emissions testing to the EN55015:2013 / 61000-3-2:2014 / 61000-3-3:2013 / 61547:2009 standards to determine the maximum emissions emanating from the LED light strip, as verified by the EMTEK and SGS Test Authorities. The x-Glo LED light strip product is certified to conform to EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and may carry the CE mark.
9. LOW VOLTAGE DEVICE TESTING
All x-Glo low-voltage strip lighting/accessories are subject to the following Low Voltage Device (LVD) testing:
● The product has been testedto the EN 60598-2-21:2015 and EN 60598-1:2015 standards to determine that the LED light strip/accessory design is compliant, as verified by the EMTEK Test Authority. The x-Glo LED low-voltage light strip/accessories are certified to conform to LVD Directive 2014/35/EU and may carry the CE mark.
● The product has been testedto the UL 2108 Low Voltage Lighting, UL 1598 Luminaires, and CSA 250.0-08 standards to determine that the LED light strip/accessory design is compliant, as verified by the North American Certification Program. The x-Glo LED low-voltage light strip/accessories may carry the UL Certification Mark.
10. FLEXIBLE LIGHTING PRODUCTS TESTING

The product has been tested to the UL 2388 Flexible Lighting Products standard to determine that the LED light strip/accessory design is compliant, as verified by the North American Certification Program. The x-Glo LED 120 Volt lightstrip/accessories may carry the UL Certification Mark.
11. WEIGHT/TENSILE STRENGTH TESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting and its connectors are subject to in-house prolonged weight/tensile strength testing to ensure that they have the required strength and are suitable for the harsh conditions to which they will be subjected. This testing is based on the IEC 60079-0 Explosion-proof standard.
12. IMPACT TESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting is subject to in-house impact testing to ensure that it has the required strength and is suitable for the harsh conditions to which itwill be subjected.
When the strip lighting is installed with the x-Glo aluminium channels, the striplight can with stand the impact of a 0.5kg hammer dropped from a height of 0.4m(the energy produced by a 0.5kg hammer from a 0.4m height is 2J).
13. PHOTOMETRIC TESTING
All x-Glo strip lighting is subject to photometric testing in accordance with the Everfine Goniophotometer System Test to verify that the specified level of luminosity is continuously available from the high-grade LEDs used.
